DJ Profile: Swedish House Mafia

I think it's fitting to do the next installment of DJ Profile of one of the greastest groups that graced the EDM world. I'm talking about the swedish trio Swedish House Mafia.

Swedish House Mafia is a Swedish electronic dance music trio consisting of three house djs and producers, Axwell, Steve Angello, and Sebastian Ingrosso. The group officially formed in late 2008. The so called supergroup placed at number ten on the DJ Magazine Top 100 DJ Poll 2011. On 23 June 2012, the group announced via their website that their current tour would be their last together before the hiatus.

Dj Profile: Rage Face Records

As you can see in your top right corner, this blog is all about spreading and sharing good music. In this post I've the privilege to present to you an up and coming crew of EDM artists named: Rage Face Records.

Rage Face Records (RFR) is an electronic music crew hailing from the Mighty Midwest, and is privileged to call Chicago home. At its core, RFR is comprised of two sets of brothers. Graham and Ian Squires, and Marty and Mike McKenna.

Whether you rage face to dubstep, electro, hip-hop, tech house, progressive, or drum n’ bass and everything in between, their original attacks on electronic music will surely stimulate your senses.  The ability of their artists' to produce, and release purely original tracks that the crew loves, ensures RFR, that you will dig them too.

RFR takes pride in their craft through individual contribution and versatility. Whether it be producing, djing, creating physical or digital art, freestyling, blogging, marketing, networking, video production, or recording, go down the list, they do it all.

DJ Profile: Dada Life

Dada Life is a prominent Swedish electro house duo, consisting of Olle Corneer and Stefan Engblom. In 2010, Dada Life was voted #89 in DJ Magazine's annual Top 100 list of the most popular DJ's. Dada Life's popularity escalated significantly over the next year and in October 2011, they were voted #38 in DJ Mag's Top 100. 

Some of Dada's biggest hits to date include: "Happy Violence", "Kick Out The Epic Motherf*cker", "Unleash the F*cking Dada", "White Noise / Red Meat", and their remixes of "Dynasty" by Kaskade (feat Haley) and "Big Bad Wolf" by Duck Sauce. Dada Life frequently headlines at North America's two largest electronic dance festivals, at the Electric Daisy Carnival and Ultra Music Festival.

Dada Life is known for their high energy live sets. Dada Life lets loose large inflatables in the shapes of bananas and champagne bottles, which have now become signatures in their live shows. For example, at Electric Daisy Carnival 2011 in Las Vegas, Dada Life drew a massive crowd and surprised their fans with a live 25-piece marching band to accompany their DJ set. Fans have also been known to be pulled up on stage if they are wearing banana costumes.

DJ Profile: BillyVan

Funny story about Billy. I was navigating in a very known bay, famous for its pirates, and I came across an instrumental EP of him as the top seeded link. Since I had nothing to lose I decided to take a look at it, and I didn't regret it. I was like:

Billy brings a new musicality to the saturated dubstep scene. When you think you've seen it all, it's pleasant surprise to hear something different, but inside the same genre of course. The trademark dubstep bass and wobbles are there, but Billy gives them his personal twist.

The EP features remixes from classic hits to current tracks, so there's something for everyone. Billy Van is a young producer from the Midwest (USA) trying to make a serious run at the EDM scene. Let's just wait to see how far will Billy go, he's on the right path, using the social networks to it's full potential, and making quality and entertaining music, so who knows. But enough with the talk, let's just listen to what he has to offer.

DJ Profile: Daft Punk

Daft Punk is an electronic music duo consisting of French musicians Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter. Daft Punk reached significant popularity in the late 1990s house movement in France and met with continued success in the years following, combining elements of house with synthpop.

The name 'Daft Punk' was inspired by a depreciative article published in a british magazine Melody Maker. The magazine had rated the first work of the duo, recorded in 1992 - at that time, the duo was called 'Darlin' - as a bunch of daft punk.

The debut recording of the duo as 'Daft Punk' was The New Wave, released by Soma Records in 1993. After this, followed their first commercial hit, the single Da Funk (1995). The debut album of the duo, Homework (1997) was considered an innovative mix of techno, house music, acid house and electro, and one of the most influent e-music albums of the '90s.

In September of 1999, they cease to exist, and become robots. 'No one really knows what happened', said Bangalter. 'I think there was a big explosion, and first thing we note is that we become robots. It was a good thing, given that allows us to do what we really love: perform in an anti-conventional way. We don't need to show our faces to be stamped in a magazine cover, or to sell a bunch of CDs.' The robot outfit are still used today in performances, therefore concealing their true identity. In interviews, the duo has been interviewed with a black bag in their head .
The album Discovery, from 2001, was more commercial, something that let some Homework fans down. Nevertheless, it succeeded in sales, and the One More Time track, released in 2000, reached the #2 position in the UK tops.
