DJ Profile: Swedish House Mafia

I think it's fitting to do the next installment of DJ Profile of one of the greastest groups that graced the EDM world. I'm talking about the swedish trio Swedish House Mafia.

Swedish House Mafia is a Swedish electronic dance music trio consisting of three house djs and producers, Axwell, Steve Angello, and Sebastian Ingrosso. The group officially formed in late 2008. The so called supergroup placed at number ten on the DJ Magazine Top 100 DJ Poll 2011. On 23 June 2012, the group announced via their website that their current tour would be their last together before the hiatus.

Each of the group members is an accomplished DJ/producer and label owner in his own right. The Swedish group initially teamed up in the mid-2000s, when they toured together as DJs and collaborated from time to time on one another's productions. Eric Prydz was also a member of the group for a while. Axwell, Angello, and Ingrosso's breakout performance as Swedish House Mafia came on August 12, 2008, when they played the Main Room at Cream Amnesia in Ibiza, Spain, as part of Radio 1's Essential Mix Ibiza. A couple years later the trio signed a major-label recording contract with EMI and made their commercial production debut with the summer 2010 anthem "One," also known as "One (Your Name)," the latter version featuring Pharrell Williams of the Neptunes on vocals.

Steve Angelo and Sebastian Ingrosso met as children in Stockholm, and it was years later that Axwell joined the group, after a chance meeting.

Sadly, On 23 June 2012, it was announced via the group's website that the final leg of their 2012 tour would be their last: "Today we want to share with you, that the tour we are about to go on will be our last. We want to thank every single one of you that came with us on this journey. We came, we raved, we loved." They stated three show dates, with the last leg of their tour set to be announced in August. It is unknown whether the group members will collaborate with each other again. In an interview with Rolling Stone in regards to the group's breakup, Angello said that "we just decided that we reached a point where we didn't know what the next move would be," and that "we've had beyond our dreams and we've come very, very far".

If they decide to reunite, or maintain their separate ways, they gave us and the EDM world some tracks to remember and we're grateful for that.

And in their own words: WE CAME, WE RAVE, WE LOVED!!

Damn that's one inspiring video. Show your love for Swedish House Mafia by following them on:
