DJ Week: Hardwell (Original Mix 2)

Dropping sick mixes today. Zero 76 is the result of a colaboration between Hardwell with the world renowned Dj Tiesto, and the final result is nothing but awesome. Hope that these two find the time to do something similar in the future.

The Great EDM War has Begun

Interesting article about the business side of EDM from EDMsnob:

"Letting the corporate world into EDM is like letting a thief take your house and then sell it back to you brick by brick. There, I said it.
By now, it’s no secret. The world of corporate music and concerts wants your house.
…And your trance, your dubstep, your electro, and your drum and bass, too. They want whatever you want, so that they can sell it back to you note-by-note and wobble-by-wobble.
Since our original expose about Insomniac’s Electric Daisy Carnival, I’ve spoken to a lot of people in the industry, and many others in the live EDM business have spoken out on their own publicly. Let’s recap on what I’ve learned.
There are two big factions in the live EDM business, and both of them are in a gold rush to acquire independent promoters and become bigger and more powerful than the other one.
The first is Live Nation Entertainment, which you may know as Ticketmaster, the service-charging powerhouse of the ticketing world. In the last year, they’ve acquired Creamfields and Hard Events, bringing on the respective leaders of those companies and building strategies to further increase their influence.
The second entity is what will eventually be known as SFX Entertainment, which includes Disco Donnie Presents. Originally I thought that this company had spun off from Insomniac’s touring events division entirely. What I now know is that Disco Donnie took back the approximately 20 local affiliate companies that he delivered to Insomniac around 2010, and sold that whole entity to Robert Sillerman and SFX Entertainment. Insomniac and Disco Donnie Presents are still partners on the massives (including Electric Daisy Carnival), so we’ll lump these companies together.

DJ Week 1: Hardwell (Updated with all this weeks posts)

Every now and then I will bring to you DJ themed weeks. Basically I'll start it with a DJ profile and in the following days of the week I'll present to you some of my favourite mixes, live sets, news from that DJ.

So to start let me give to you, the award-winning DJ, producer, label manager, music lover, DJMag Top 100 list newcomer and barely 23 years old… Here is: Hardwell!

This talented genius, better known as Robbert van de Corput started his DJ career at the age of 13. After this blow-out Hardwell’s talent was picked up by a Dutch label and they signed him when he was only 14 years old! Shortly after his label signing he started to play at all mayor clubs in the Netherlands.

For the last couple of years, Hardwell has been recognised by the industry as having a new and refreshing take on a scene that continues to evolve and seems to have an everlasting shelf life. He has created his unique trademark as a DJ and producer around this sound.

His growing reputation and success was picked up by party-minded people, they voted for him for the DJMAG Top 100 this year and he got a well deserved #24 spot in the Top 100 list, his first entry into their charts.

Hardwell has already showcased his remix skills for top DJs such as Fedde Le Grand, Armin van Buuren, Tiësto, Bob Sinclar, Chris Lake, Funkerman, Laidback Luke, Sharam (Deep Dish), Steve Angello, Booty Luv, Flo Rida ft. Akon, Martin Solveig, Dada Life, Alex Gaudino ft. Kelly Rowland, Gareth Emery and Hi_Tack.

Behind the decks Hardwell never fails to deliver. His exceptional technical skills, variety of music, distinguished looks and that added personal touch make him stand out.

He's clearly the new kid on the block, and he's here to say.

And now, for your listening pleasure.

Another up and coming artist, this time from the UK, here's a dubstep tune from xKore.

DJ Mag Top 100 DJs 2012: Polls Open

And the polls are officially open!! From now until August 29th 2012 you can log in to the Top 100 poll (http://apps.facebook.com/topdjsvote) on Facebook and vote for up to 5 DJs in order of preference. As always, it's a diffcult task to name only 5 since there're so many good dj's and producers out there we're to bound to leave someone good out of our top 5. But hey, that's a good thing, it's a sign that electronic music is being delivered in quality and quantity and we can't ever have enough of that.

DJ's Mag Top 100 is the official ranking of DJ's, or, as Armin Van Buuren called it "the Oscars for dance music". Who's gonna top this year list? Will David Guetta retain is #1 spot, or, will we have a new #1? I guess it all depends on you, and on your vote.

GRANADA!!

OMG!! was exactly my reaction when I first heard this tune. OMG and ShockWave are 2 up and coming Dubstep/Electronic music producers from Dallas, Texas in The United States, and are fairly new to the music scene. Since starting to build a fan-base in November 2011, they have received masses of great feedback, what is well deserved given the great dubstep remix of Eliminate's - Chasing Fire, for example. Explosive tune, with one of the most sickest drops I've heard in a while.
